Travis Harrison is a Canadian double bassist, sought after as an orchestral musician, soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. He is currently based in Toronto where he performs as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician and teacher. He was previously a tenured member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared as principal bass with many groups across Canada, including the National Arts Centre and Canadian Opera Company orchestras. Travis is the bass instructor at the University of Toronto, and previously served as a chair member of the International Society of Bassists’ board of directors.

He has many hobbies and interests, most of which involve attempting to enrich his own life and the lives of those around him (for example, making and sharing beer). Travis’ main concern these days is to help establish the double bass as an instrument deserving the same respect as the violin and cello, by redefining expectations of what it can achieve musically.
